During Treatment
During cancer treatment, eating enough—or even finding something that sounded tolerable—could sometimes be challenging for me. Protein shakes became one option that helped during those times.
Ka’Chava shakes became one of the things that worked well for me during that time. I would add banana and peanut butter, which seemed to help settle my stomach while also adding some extra protein. Since there were times when mouth sores and nausea made it difficult for me to eat much, shakes were one way I was able to get some nutrition in and feel a little better.
After Treatment
Interestingly, my experience with Ka’Chava changed after chemo. Now I might use one scoop instead of two, and I don’t drink it every day because I’ve found that it’s harder on my stomach than it was during treatment. It’s strange—I tolerated it really well during chemo, but not as well afterward.
Post-chemo, I also tried Truvani. My dermatologist had mentioned pumpkin seed to me in connection with hair growth, which is what initially interested me in trying it. I liked the flavor and found it gentler on my stomach than Ka’Chava.
